Description
Are you in the mood for a short holiday that will have a positive effect for a long time? Then you should try a yoga retreat. Even if you're not striving for total enlightenment - there's no harm in an inner glow, and that's guaranteed to happen. Because yogis know a lot about the positive influence of nature and and feng shui on body, mind and soul, they always seek out the most beneficial environments for their retreats. The daily yoga exercises and the healthy organic (mostly vegetarian) cuisine help to restore energy in no time. And whether alone, with a friend or partner or in a group, you are sure to meet interesting fellow travellers.
In this wonderful, updated guide, Angelika Taschen gathers together the world's most exquisite and inspiring yoga retreats. The highlights include the Parmarth Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh, the birthplace of yoga, where the Beatles learned to meditate in the Maharishi's ashram in 1968 and the Yogamagic, an ecological retreat in Goa on the gentle Indian Ocean. Il Convento in Tuscany and Santa Maria del Sole in Apulia achieve the effortless balancing act between yoga and the epicurean Italian way of life. In Big Sur, California, the Esalen Institute, a legendary destination of the New Age movement, offers yoga and more for mind and body in more than 500 yoga classes, while at the Amansala in Tulum, Mexico, you can combine beach life and yoga classes in the most pleasant way. But why always go far afield, when Hotel Post Bezau, nominated this year at the World Spa Awards in the category "World's Best Detox Programme" and also presented in this book, is so close?
" ... a beautiful coffee-table book that lists the best retreats for a holistic healing."
